Kerry Identifies Four Key Trends Shaping Product Development
Kerry recently realigned a number of its previously independent business units, such as Kerry Bio-Science, Mastertaste and Kerry Ingredients, into a single Kerry Ingredients and Flavours EMEA structure.
07/07/09 Kerry Ingredients and Flavours has identified four global food trends which it claims will shape the food and beverage industry landscape over the next 12 months.
Emphasising Kerry’s new approach to supporting customer innovation and product development, Albert McQuaid, CEO of Kerry Ingredients and Flavours, said: “There are four key challenges for the food industry that are focusing the minds of marketing and technical people in every country today: weight management, clean label, cost reduction and increased speed to market. These trends have led us to look afresh at how we work with our customers with the aim of delivering integrated solutions to these challenges more rapidly and cost effectively.”
Kerry recently realigned a number of its previously independent business units, such as Kerry Bio-Science, Mastertaste and Kerry Ingredients, into a single Kerry Ingredients and Flavours EMEA structure. The new approach is aimed at marshalling Kerry’s extensive technology portfolio and considerable applications resources to create innovative, market-led solutions for its customers. Recent Kerry Group acquisitions include Breeo Foods (a subsidiary of Reox Holdings plc), Dera Holding NV, Prima S.A. and G. Adams Pastry.
Commenting on the significance of Food Ingredients Europe ’09 in Frankfurt in November, McQuaid said: “There can be no doubt that in the current market climate this year FIE will be a focus event for the food and beverage industry to discuss how to work smarter and more sustainably both within Europe and globally. It will also be an important opportunity for us to communicate to our customers the evolution that Kerry is undertaking to ensure that the combined expertise of our ingredient and flavour technologies and end-use market applications capabilities are being mobilised to create value for our customers and the consumers they serve.”
Kerry is providing a number of senior level expert speakers at Food Ingredients Europe ’09, each of whom will cover Kerry’s latest research findings and market insights in relation to the key food trends of weight management, clean label and cost reduction. On the Kerry stand itself product concepts will be presented which demonstrate how combinations of the company’s extensive range of technologies can address the industry’s most pressing challenges.
