Karjala Maltti – Soft And Malty With a Hint of Bourbon
30 Jan 2014 --- In March, Hartwall will launch a fascinating new lager to complement its existing range of Finnish beers. Karjala Maltti has a distinctive hint of bourbon whiskey on the nose and palate. The full malty flavour is expected to receive an enthusiastic reception among Finnish lager aficionados.
Karjala Maltti 4.5% lager has a well-balanced flavour with a malty softness and the distinctive aroma of bourbon on the nose and palate. The golden yellow colour, too, is reminiscent of whiskey.
”Finnish consumers are looking for new exciting lager flavours. Karjala Maltti is an approachable yet fascinating alternative for Finnish lager lovers, as Maltti’s bourbon flavour is certain to appeal to Finnish tastes. The name of our latest product references its strong malty flavour. Maltti, the name of the lager, is a Finnish word meaning calm or chilled out. That’s how we recommend people approach the new lager,” explains Hartwall Product Manager Tiina Turkulainen.
The tasty new lager is particularly well suited to being enjoyed on its own but the generous malty flavour also makes for an ideal accompaniment to a range of foods.
”Karjala Maltti goes particularly well with barbequed or smoked meat and cold cuts as well as creamy and peppery pasta dishes,” says Hartwall’s food and drink expert Riikka Kallonen.
”The multi-layered bourbon flavour also works well when paired with savoury or sweet pastries and cakes containing fruit such as pineapple, apricot or orange.”
Maltti lager will be released as a special edition that will be available for 12 months from mid-March 2014 onwards. It will be sold in pint-size (0.568 litre) cans.
