Jolly Pumpkin Releases Sour Ales Brewed with Evil Twin, Mikkeller
02 Feb 2016 --- Three of the most dynamic names in the beer world now – Ron Jeffries of Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, Mikkel Bjergs of Mikkeller and Jeppe Bjergs of Evil Twin Brewing – are coming together in a collaboration craft beer fans might never have anticipated.
In 2014 Ron Jeffries, owner and master brewer of Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, hosted Mikkel and later Jeppe Bjergs to his Dexter, Michigan brewery to create a few new creations. Then he took that collaboration in an unexpected direction, like only Jolly Pumpkin can.
The results debuted on tap this week with a special release, now available at Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery in Detroit.
They include:
Sea Buckthorn Fandango Sour Ale
A Sour Ale with Sea Buckthorn Juice. This collaboration with Mikkel Bjergs of Mikkeller Brewing was brewed in August 2014 and spent 1 year 4 months in oak barrels. 5.7 % ABV
Innovatorman Sour Ale
A Sour Ale with Strawberries. This collaboration with Jeppe Bjergs of Evil Twin Brewing and Charles Psenka from Leelanau Brewing Company was brewed in September 2014 and spent 1 year 3 months in oak barrels. 6.8% ABV
Hamajang Sour Ale Blend
Hamajang is Hawaiian slang that translates into “That’s messed up bro.” This special collaboration blends Sea Buckthorn and Innovatorman – combining the work of the Bjergs twins – who have a reportedly complicated relationship – for the first time.
Sea Buckhorn Fandango and Innovatorman are just celebrating a release today, and available for $15 per bottle each at the Detroit location – 441 West Canfield in Midtown.
