Jefferson Junction, LLC to Acquire Cargill Malt Plant

Cargill Malt has signed a letter of intent with Jefferson Junction, LLC (JJ) to acquire the Cargill Malt facility in Jefferson Junction. Cargill Malt previously announced that it was ceasing malting operations at the plant on Oct. 17, 2005.

24/10/05 Pending regulatory approvals of the acquisition agreement and the completion of JJ’s acquisition of the facility, JJ intends to convert the 375-acre site into a multi-use facility, including an ethanol plant, a tilapia fish farm and an electric co-generation component.

“We are very pleased to have reached agreement with Jefferson Junction,” said Cargill Malt President Doug Eden. “We hope that the entire region benefits from JJ’s significant re-investment in this important community asset.”

“Jefferson Junction’s investment at Jefferson Junction will provide even more jobs and have a beneficial economic impact for the surrounding community, as well as for the farm base,” said Paul Olsen, president, JJ.
