iFish Launches First Omega-3 Supplement in Taiwan That Can Be Added Directly to Food for Babies

14/06/07 Ocean Nutrition Canada Limited (ONC), supplier of MEG-3 Omega-3 EPA/DHA fish oil ingredients to the global dietary supplement and healthy food markets, is pleased to announce that iFish has recently launched a line of Omega-3 nutritional supplements called Q+ Baby DHA Powder. iFish has announced that this new product line is targeted for babies six months and older. It can be easily added to beverages and foods, such as milk, juice, yogurt, and infant formula, to provide babies with the Omega-3 needed for normal growth and development. Q+ Baby DHA Powder is being sold in select pharmacies and drug stores throughout Taiwan.

Each box of Q+ Baby contains 30 sachets of powder. Each sachet contains 120 mg of DHA (Total Omega-3 content is160 mg) and other vital nutrients. The individual packages contain the recommended amount per meal and a total of 2-3 packages a day are suggested by iFish to meet the Institute of Medicine’s suggested 500 mg of Omega-3 EPA and DHA per day.

There are three types of Q+ Baby DHA Powder available: Brainer for increased development of the brain, Sightner for maintenance of vision, and Immuner for increased immunity in infants and children. 

EPA and DHA are important building blocks for normal growth and development. In early infant nutrition the emphasis is on the addition of DHA, which is a structural component of the brain; however, human breast milk contains both DHA and EPA in a 5:1 ratio. This demonstrates the importance of the balance of DHA and EPA in the diet. Studies suggest that after age five EPA plays a more active role in learning and development.
