Helm’s Brewing Releases OG Wheat
14 Jul 2014 --- Helm’s Brewing Company gets in on the summer experience this week when they release their summer seasonal, OG Wheat.
This German Gose style was made popular in Germany around the 1600’s, but has since become more of a rarity around the world. OG Wheat keeps with the traditional German Gose style by using 100% German imported grains and hops to give it authenticity. Salt and coriander are added to OG Wheat to offset the tart profile given from the sour mash technique creating a complex profile of flavors. The result is a perfectly balanced beer that is tart, light, crisp and refreshing.
“We are proud to bring back our summer seasonal with OG Wheat as we continue to push our ideas of innovative beer” said Matt Johnson, General Manager at Helm’s Brewing Company. “OG Wheat is a fan favorite and is a great beer for those warm San Diego summer days.”
OG Wheat is one of four seasonal beers on rotation at Helm’s Brewing Company and will run until late September when Samuin Harvest Pumpkin Ale takes over. The other two seasonal beers include Chocolate Night Imperial Stout in the winter and En Garde in the spring.
