Hawesko Holding gains distribution rights for Marqués de Murrieta
Several Hawesko subsidiaries have carried the wines of Marqués de Murrieta and the affiliated vineyard Pazo de Barrantes, but not on an exclusive basis.
07/03/06 The wine trading group Hawesko Holding AG has announced that its subsidiary CWD Champagner- und Wein-Distributionsgesellschaft has been granted the exclusive distribution rights in Germany for the wines of the Spanish producer Marqués de Murrieta. Several Hawesko subsidiaries have carried the wines of Marqués de Murrieta and the affiliated vineyard Pazo de Barrantes, but not on an exclusive basis. The collaboration with the renowned company, which is based in the Rioja region, will commence on 31 March 2006.
The great tradition of the Bodegas Marqués de Murrieta goes back to 1852, when Luciano Francisco Ramón de Murrieta sent his wines out into the world from Logroño, Rioja for the first time. In subsequent years his wines won numerous awards at exhibitions throughout Europe. Murrieta purchased the Ygay vineyard, and was later appointed a marquis by Queen Isabel II. Today, the wines of Marqués de Murrieta represent a subtle, elegant combination of traditional winemaking and state-of-the-art vinification.
Hawesko Holding AG is the leading supplier of premium wines and champagnes. In fiscal year 2005 the Group achieved sales of Euro 287 million through their three sales channels - specialist wine retail (Jacques’ Wein-Depot), wholesale (Wein Wolf and CWD Champagner und Wein Distributionsgesellschaft) and mail order (in particular Hanseatisches Wein- und Sekt-Kontor).
