Haribo Launches Tangfastics Sour Cherries in Own Bag Line
Tangfastics is Haribo’s second best selling bag brand after the company’s flagship Starmix brand. Both bag lines include mixes from Haribo’s most popular countline drums.
04/06/08 As a result of more than 2,000 consumers appealing to the company, this month (June) sees the launch of Haribo Sour Cherries fizzy fruit flavour gums in two bag sizes – 160g and 200g, with RRPs of £1.12 and £1.39, respectively.
Both sizes will be packaged in shelf-ready display cartons containing 12 bags and will be available to all trade sectors from early June.
In line with all Haribo bags of gums & jellies produced in the UK, Haribo Sour Cherries are free from artificial colours – the declaration is highlighted on the front of the cherry-coloured packs which also proclaims “Sour Cherries from Tangfastics. So good they’ve got their own bag.”
The reverse of the bags feature a “By Popular Demand” stamp and a note from Haribo which states: “Dear Haribo fans, We have heard that you like Sour Cherries from our popular Tangfastics bag. So the team at Haribo have decided to give them their own bag. Just for You!”
Herwig Vennekens, Managing Director of Haribo Dunhills (Pontefract) which sells three of the UK’s top-selling bagged sugar confectionery brands - Starmix, Tangfastics and Kiddie’s SuperMix - says: “The idea started to take shape after consumers started e-mailing us about how the sour cherries in Tangfastics were their favourites and asking us to launch sour cherries in their own bag. The movement really gathered momentum with over 2,000 consumers joining the cause.
“There’s no doubting the popularity of Sour Cherries - whenever we’ve mentioned the campaign to people, it usually turns out that they are their favourites too. Given the consumer demand, we’ve decided to launch Haribo Sour Cherries as a limited edition line at this stage, but if the brand really does take off, then we’ll clearly look at establishing them as a permanent line within the portfolio.”
