Golden Wonder goes into administration
Administrators Kroll said the company suffered “serious trading difficulties” as it tried to compete in a market dominated by rival Walkers.
09/01/06 UK based chips manufacturer Golden Wonder has been placed in administration, putting about 850 jobs at risk.
Administrators Kroll said the company suffered “serious trading difficulties” as it tried to compete in a market dominated by rival Walkers. The firm, whose brands include Golden Wonder, Nik-Naks and Wheat Crunchies, has suffered falling sales and fierce competition in recent years.
Kroll said it had already taken the decision to close a site at Corby, Northamptonshire, where 350 people work. The administrators said that they were looking at all options for the business and were hopeful that it could be rescued.
