FSANZ Calls for Submissions on Name Change to Enzymes
03 Jun 2014 --- Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) today called for submissions on an application from the Australian Wine Research Institute to change the naming and classification of a group of enzymes.
FSANZ Chief Executive Officer Steve McCutcheon said that, if the application was approved, the naming and classification of carboxyl proteinase enzymes would be changed to reflect changes made by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
“If the change is approved, enzyme carboxyl proteinase would be replaced with Aspergillopepsin I and Aspergillopepsin II in the processing aid Standard in the Code,” Mr McCutcheon said.
“FSANZ welcomes comments from government agencies, public health professionals, industry and the community on this application.”
The closing date for submissions for this application is 15 July 2014.
