From the Goodness of Oats, Country Choice Organic Introduces Two New FIT KIDS Hot Cereal Flavors

05/01/07 With new findings on nutrition published almost daily, consumers may be growing wary of the claims for healthy eating. In a blur of headlines that often seem to contradict, one fact remains constant -- oats are one of nature's perfect foods.
"For a variety of reasons, oats remain one of the single healthiest foodstuffs available today," says John DePaolis, Chief Cookie Officer for Country Choice Organic. "Oats aren't just a cholesterol-free, whole grain food. They contain soluble fiber that actively binds with and helps remove excess cholesterol that can clog arteries and lead to heart disease." Studies have also shown that oatmeal may help regulate blood sugar levels by slowing the absorption of carbohydrates.
And for kids, the benefits of eating breakfast are irrefutable. "A nutritious breakfast provides kids with the fuel they need to stay focused
on their day," says DePaolis. But to get kids to eat it, it has to taste good, and that's why the company is introducing two new organic flavors to its FIT KIDS lineup of hot cereals, Berry Blast and Caramel Apple.
"Our new FIT KIDS Organic Instant Oatmeal was created to give kids a great tasting, healthy way to start their day," says DePaolis. "Made with whole grain organic oats, FIT KIDS is fortified with calcium, iron and vitamins -- ingredients kids need to stay healthy and active. But we also realize that it has to taste great, so we've added things like organic berries and apples."
These two new flavors join a Country Choice hot cereal lineup that has featured a variety of organic oats since its inception. Last year the company also launched three flavors of moist and chewy Oatmeal Squares, a baked bar that lets you have your bowl of oats on-the-go. "We've always liked the idea of making it easy for people to get their oats," says DePaolis.
