FrieslandCampina Kievit switch to sustainable certified palm oil
10 Nov 2017 --- The sustainable palm oil drive within the food industry is being stepped up at FrieslandCampina Kievit which is upgrading its Vana-Monte portfolio to RSPO SG – using palm oil that is segregated from conventional palm oil and certified as sustainable by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
It’s all about pushing a strategy to do business in a responsible and sustainable way as well as meeting increasing customer demand for more sustainable food ingredients.
FrieslandCampina Kievit’s Vana-Monte portfolio includes whipping agents to add aeration to indulgent whipped cream desserts, mousses, ice cream and pastries for a beautifully smooth, light, creamy and (acid) stable result.
Doing business in a responsible and sustainable way is at the core of Kievit’s strategy and the company has committed to ensuring products in the Vana-Monte, Vana-Crema, Vana-Grasa and Vana-Sponge ranges move to using RSPO SG palm.
Introducing RSPO SG as the standard in the Vana-Monte is the latest achievement addressing the growing customer demand for more sustainable food ingredients and is adding value for manufacturers of baked goods, savory and (frozen) dessert products.
RSPO SG means that palm oil is purchased from RSPO-licensed suppliers and is separated from non-certified plantations across the whole supply chain. This allows end-product manufacturers to claim that the product contains RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil.
