Friesland Foods Will Reimburse Damage Arising From Milk Not Supplied

06/06/08 At an extra central meeting of Regional Councils on Tuesday, 3 June, Sybren Attema, Chairman of the Board of Zuivelcoöperatie Friesland Foods, announced that the cooperative would reimburse the damage arising from milk not supplied by members as a result of Friesland Foods being unable to collect the milk. This concerns some 1 million kilos of milk that Friesland Foods was unable to collect from 212 companies on Saturday, 31 May, and in the early morning of Sunday, 1 June, owing to blockades by DDB of seven production facilities of Friesland Foods.

At the meeting, the Board of Zuivelcoöperatie Friesland Foods, the Board of Management of Friesland Foods and members of the Regional Councils discussed the DDB actions and their consequences. An important issue was the initiation of dialogues in the industry between the parties concerned, such as NZO (Dutch Dairy Association), LTO (Dutch Federation of Agriculture and Horticulture) and DDB, and among dairy farmers.
