Forum PET Europe Launched to Promote Sound Development of PET Bottles
The main goals of Forum PET Europe are to create an innovation-friendly environment for PET bottles, to promote high quality recycling and to minimize reputation risks.
2 Dec 2010 --- Representatives of the pan-European PET bottle industry and its supply chain met in Paris on 23rd November to constitute the Forum PET Europe. The federation is unifying the interests of the national PET bottle associations and representing the whole supply chain, from resin production, machinery, bottle manufacturing and recycling, until end of life. Founding members are the PET associations of France (Elipso) and Germany (Forum PET in der IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e. V.) as well as the company Logoplaste S.A., representing Portugal.
The main goals of Forum PET Europe are to create an innovation-friendly environment for PET bottles, to promote high quality recycling and to minimize reputation risks. It further intends to act as a platform for the discussion of market and regulatory issues in the European Union as well as to communicate with relevant stakeholders.
The President of Forum PET Europe is Jean-Marc Rostagno (57), Director Northern Europe of Artenius PET Packaging. Rostagno, started his career in strategic consulting before holding senior executive positions in several major companies of the packaging industry like Crown, Ball, Constantia Flexibles, US Can and others. In 2005, he eventually was appointed as Director Northern Europe of AMCOR PET Packaging that later changed to Artenius PET Packaging Europe (APPE).
Marcel de Botton (86), Chairman of Logoplaste S.A., Portugal, was elected Vice President. To mention only a few steps of his career, de Botton became founder and managing partner of Fábrica de Plásticos Titan in 1956, as well as founder and chairman of Logoplaste in 1976. His strong engagement for the interests of the plastics converter industry is best described by the foundation and vice-presidency of European Plastics Converters (EuPC) as well as the presidency of the Portuguese Plastics Association (APIP). De Botton also founded the Portuguese “green dot” organisation Sociedade Ponto Verde in1996.
Further Council members are Françoise Gerardi, General Manager of Elipso, France, Dr. Jürgen Bruder, Director General of IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e.V., Germany.
