FMC Announces 20% Price Increases on Hydrocolloid Products
25 Oct 2013 --- FMC Corporation has announced global price increases, effective December 1, on its alginate, carrageenan, Avicel microcrystalline cellulose, pectin and other hydrocolloid products of up to 20 percent or more or as contractually determined in food, personal care and other market segments. The increase varies by product family.
“These increases are necessary to offset the persistently rising input costs we are experiencing, especially in certain seaweeds utilized in our alginate and carrageenan lines of products,” said Marshall Fong, Global Marketing Director, Food Ingredients, FMC Health and Nutrition. “However, we are dedicated to working closely with our customers to continually find ways of developing new products and solutions that reduce overall ingredient cost-in-use while maintaining or improving the consumer or end-user experience.”
FMC is the leading producer of alginates, carrageenan and microcrystalline cellulose providing customers with solutions to meet demanding formulation challenges associated with global and regional food and social trends. In recent years, FMC has expanded its product portfolio into natural colors, pectin and omega-3 oils to better help customers address trends toward healthier and more natural foods.
