Fi Europe 2023: CP Kelco to spotlight texture trends and healthy indulgence
21 Nov 2023 --- Nature-based ingredient solutions specialist CP Kelco is gearing up for Food Ingredients Europe (FiE) in Frankfurt, Germany (Nov 28–30), where it will showcase prototypes illustrating the “indulge with no compromise” concept and products highlighting the latest texture trends.
“With the demands and stresses of our daily lives, consumers are turning to indulgent food and beverages for comfort. However, they still prioritize their health and wellness and are mindful of the environment,” says CP Kelco’s senior marketing specialist Camille Berdugo.
“When making food and beverage choices, consumers do not want to compromise on sustainability, wellness or enjoyment, while also keeping an eye on their budget.”
Body & planet friendly
CP Kelco says it will show how it is possible to achieve indulgent texture in products that are “good for you” while also being good for the planet, a trend that is gathering pace across F&B applications as consumers demand more from their food choices.
CP Kelco leverages nature-based ingredients, including upcycled ingredients extracted from plants or derived from fermentation.

Kelcogel Gellan Gum provides the opportunity for development of compositions and formulations with functional requirements.“For example, consumers are buying more vitamin and mineral supplements than ever and will choose a soft and chewy gummy that tastes like a confectionery treat but is made without animal-based gelatin,” adds Berdugo.
Visitors can sample some of the company’s plant-based concepts, including a breakfast-tasting session consisting of vegan scrambled egg alternatives featuring Kelcogel Gellan Gum.
CP Kelco will also host a soft-serve ice cream break featuring Nutrava Citrus Fiber and various new prototypes, including cold-cut alternatives with a meat-like sensory experience and a short ingredient list featuring Genugel Carrageenan.
Heat-stable, vegan gummies will also be introduced, including a sugar-free, vitamin C gummy and, a calcium-enriched gummy and a high-protein yogurt alternative made with Genu Pectin. And an oat-based matcha latte alternative featuring Kelcogel Gellan Gum for excellent suspension and smooth mouthfeel and an indulgent and silky rich, emulsifier-free chocolate sauce made with Nutrava Citrus Fiber.
