Eurofins Opens State of the Art UK Laboratory
The new facility, which will be the hub for many of Eurofins’ food testing activities in the UK, was officially opened on the 27th of September by the British Ambassador to Belgium, Mr Jonathan Brenton.
3 Oct 2012 --- Eurofins Scientific, the world leader in analytical support to the global food and feed market, has officially opened its new state-of-the-art food testing laboratory, designed using ‘lean’ thinking, at the i54 Business Park in Wolverhampton.
The new facility, which will be the hub for many of Eurofins’ food testing activities in the UK, was officially opened on the 27th of September by the British Ambassador to Belgium, Mr Jonathan Brenton.
New home to Eurofins Testing UK, the purpose-built facility has been designed to optimise laboratory systems and processes, ensuring maximum efficiency and the highest quality of analytical services for its clients – some of the biggest names in food manufacturing and retailing.
The ‘lean’ design process involved a re-evaluation of how the laboratory is organised, from the flow of products and services through the laboratory, to the training of staff to ensure a team-focused approach. The facility also boasts the most modern equipment, providing customers access to unrivalled testing facilities and service.
The new laboratory allows Eurofins to offer high quality testing services within very short, industry-leading turnaround times and at an affordable price.
Dr Gilles Martin, Chief Executive Officer of Eurofins, who was also present at the inauguration, said that the new laboratory was only the start of Eurofins’ new investment cycle in the UK: “Europe sets the benchmark for food safety throughout the world and this new world-class Eurofins laboratory will be at the forefront of food testing. We plan to support its expansion to become one of the leading food testing centres of excellence in Europe, offering food manufacturers and retailers alike with outstanding expertise and accurate test results.”
Graeme Risdon, Managing Director of Eurofins Food Testing UK said: “With this building, Eurofins effectively started with a ‘blank sheet of paper’ allowing us to create an environment that exactly meets both the needs of our customers and staff. In effect, we have created the ideal laboratory by approaching our processes from a different perspective and changing the way we conduct our business. The facility brings increased capacity, facilitating organic growth and it is a tremendous achievement by all who have been involved.”
