DSM Expands North American R&D Investment

9 Feb 2010 --- DSM has announced plans to significantly expand its existing research and development facilities in North America. Located at the company’s North American Headquarters in Parsippany, New Jersey, USA, the new Nutrition Innovation Center will bring together DSM’s extensive laboratory capabilities for the thriving beverage, bakery, dairy, savory, dietary supplement and personal care market sectors. It will combine expertise from two key business groups – DSM Nutritional Products and DSM Food Specialties. As such, the center will further facilitate DSM’s interdisciplinary approach to advancing differentiation through applications, as well as optimizing the valuable support services for its global customers.
Mauricio Adade, President Human Nutrition and Health at DSM Nutritional Products, comments: “DSM’s latest investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing global customer support and proactively developing solutions to meet market needs.” DSM plans to open the new Nutrition Innovation Center in 2011 and expects it to have a significant impact on the industry. This Center will house dedicated customer application suites, sensory services and customer application pilot facilities; allowing its customers to enjoy access to the broad portfolio of DSM’s ingredient and technological capabilities.
Investment in its North American research and development facilities is part of DSM’s overall strategy to provide customers with a global network of on the ground support; integrating proven technical expertise with insight into customer preferences and knowledge of key regional differences. This approach will enable DSM to achieve unrivalled levels of support for our customers.
DSM already opened two new Regional Food Application Laboratory facilities in 2009; one in Shanghai (China) for Dairy, Baking, Beverage and Savory applications and one in Sao Paulo (Brazil) mostly for beverage applications. Both became operational last year and demonstrate the company’s investment in extending its global reach. By establishing a substantial network of dedicated facilities the company continues to offer customer support at every level.
