DMK and DOC Kaas Plan Merger of Business Operations
Both companies are considered leaders in cheese manufacturing and process a combined total of more than 7.5 billion kilos of milk.
Oct 17 2011 --- The Management Boards and Supervisory Boards of the Germany dairy company DMK Deutsches Milchkontor GmbH (DMK) and the Dutch cheese specialist Drents-Overijsselse Coöperatie Kaas B.A. (DOC Kaas) are to merge their business operations. The plan is subject to the consent of the farmer members‘ committees of the cooperative parent companies and the reponsible cartel authorities.
Both companies are considered leaders in cheese manufacturing and process a combined total of more than 7.5 billion kilos of milk.
Josef Schwaiger, Management Spokesman (CEO) of DMK, explains the planned move: “Against the background of consolidation in the European dairy industry, it is more important than ever before to combine forces across national borders in order to open up key non-European markets”. “DOC Kaas is a cheese specialist. We have adopted the ambitious aim of further strengthening our position. Our cooperative members can still count on a competitive milk price, continuity and growth in the future.”, adds J.L. Oosterveld, CEO of DOC Kaas.
The members of both organisations will be informed in the next few weeks. In accordance with the cooperative structures of both companies, the consent of the farmer members’ representatives to the merger of the operating units must be obtained
