Christmas Card with a Mother-of-Pearl Shimmer

16/12/06 This year’s Christmas card from paperboard manufacturers Iggesund Paperboard was designed by Claude Finet of Star Design, which specialises in producing exclusive cards for companies like Louis Vuitton, Kenzo, Chanel and Dior. For Iggesund the annual Christmas card is a way of showing the ultimate effects that can be achieved with paperboard, not least the company’s flagship product Invercote.
“We undoubtedly invest more resources than most companies in our Christmas cards, but of course we hope they will inspire additional paperboard use by the recipients of our seasonal greeting,” explains Carlo Einarsson, head of market communications for Iggesund Paperboard.
This year’s card consists of two parts. The envelope is in matt silver created with the aid of Aluvision – a matt aluminium film laminated onto Invercote Creato. Eighteen Christmas trees have been die cut from the envelope. The card itself is printed on Invercote Creato 300 g/m2. It is varnished with Iriodin and consists of a number of foil laminated multi-coloured dots with a mother-of-pearl sheen. When the card is inserted into the envelope the dots appear as Christmas tree decorations. When the card is removed the dots form the company name Iggesund Paperboard.
In addition to doing the design Star Design was also in charge of the converting process.
