Cargill Elects David MacLennan Chief Financial Officer
MacLennan joined Cargill in 1991 and has held several management and financial positions, including as a director and chief financial officer of Cargill Financial Services Corporation.
28/05/08 Cargill announced the election of David MacLennan as chief financial officer (CFO) by Cargill’s Board of Directors.
MacLennan, 49, succeeds the late William Veazey, who passed away May 16.
MacLennan joined Cargill in 1991 and has held several management and financial positions, including as a director and chief financial officer of Cargill Financial Services Corporation. He was the president of Cargill Petroleum from 2002 to 2004, and corporate vice president and director of Cargill International S.A, Geneva, Switzerland, from 2002 to 2005. He held leadership responsibilities in the Cargill animal protein business from 2005 to 2008. Most recently, he also held senior leadership positions in the Cargill financial services, energy, transportation and industrial businesses.
“We are very saddened by the loss of Bill Veazey. He was a valued colleague and leader,” said Greg Page, Cargill chairman and chief executive officer. “It is with confidence that we move forward with David MacLennan. Cargill’s and Bill’s efforts in talent development and succession planning over the years allow us to have someone like David ready to take on the responsibilities of CFO.”
MacLennan holds a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.
Prior to joining Cargill, MacLennan was senior vice president with LIT America in Chicago and a member of the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Options Exchange. He also was president of Fixed Income Capital Markets at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffrey in Minneapolis.
MacLennan assumes his role as CFO immediately.
