Big Bottom Distilling Releases Barlow Trail American Blended Whiskey
02 Sep 2014 --- Big Bottom Distilling, doing business as Big Bottom Whiskey, Oregon’s premier independent bottler, has introduced its newest product: Big Bottom Barlow Trail. It retails for $29.95.
Big Bottom Whiskey’s Director of Marketing, Taylor Pappas, said the newest whiskey addition is very different from the original Big Bottom bourbons by blending three different well aged whiskeys with bourbon as the base and no neutral spirits added.
“Barlow Trail is a blended whiskey that offers a lighter flavor profile,” she said. “It’s meant to appeal to a broader audience. It’s a good example of our diversification as an independent whiskey bottler.”
The story behind the Barlow Trail name is tied to Mount Hood’s Barlow Road. It is a historic road that allowed the Oregon Trail settlers and traders to cross the Cascade Range and reach the Willamette Valley.
According to the Beverage Information Group’s Handbook Advance 2014, Distilled Spirits experienced its 17th year of growth with a 2.4 percent spike. Specifically, the article noted that “Whiskey continues to garner interest from consumers as they are focused on brands with authenticity, history, and a taste for American heritage.”
The small batch whiskey producer uses U.S. distillers for the base product and it then ages, finishes and bottles the bourbon whiskeys in Hillsboro. Big Bottom whiskeys retail for about $29.95 to $44.95 and they are sold in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Illinois, Georgia and South Carolina.
