Baskin-Robbins Teams with The Hershey Company to Create the Ultimate Ice Cream and Candy Bar Line-Up

15/03/07 Baskin-Robbins, the world's largest chain of ice cream specialty stores, has gone crazy for candy with the introduction of the company's new Candy Bar Madness ice cream treats in partnership with The Hershey Company. Baskin-Robbins has delved deep into the world of sweet treats, announcing survey results revealing the country's candy bar eating habits and preferences.
Baskin-Robbins and Hershey's, two iconic brands in the business of making sweet treats, have come together to create the ultimate in ice cream and candy bar pairings. The result is the introduction of nine tantalizing Candy Bar Madness treats including ice cream, shakes, sundaes and ice cream cakes made with REESE'S Peanut Butter Cups, HEATH Bar Crunch, KISSABLES and KISSES.
"Candy Bars and ice cream are two American classics," said Scott Colwell, Baskin-Robbins' vice president of marketing. "Our survey shows Americans love delicious combinations of chocolate, peanut butter and caramel. Together with Hershey's, we are excited to take candy bar favorites and provide a sweet ice cream twist, satisfying the ultimate American sweet tooth."
Americans Are Mad About Candy Bars
The Candy Bar Madness survey, conducted with Insight Express, marks the launch of Baskin-Robbins' new candy-inspired ice cream treats. The survey polled a random nationwide sampling of 1,000 adults over 18 and uncovered interesting insights into the classic candy treats.
What defines a candy bar? The term includes a wide variety of products ranging from solid chocolate bars, to multiple layers, or mixtures of different ingredients. Thirty-three percent of Americans polled said if a piece of candy has a chocolate outer shell, then it is a candy bar. In addition, a resounding 47 percent of Americans agree chocolate is the ultimate candy bar ingredient, followed by peanut butter with 21 percent.
Forty-one percent of Americans eat at least one candy bar a month and 39 percent eat one candy bar a week. With that many candy bars consumed, some may wonder if Americans have developed any quirky eating habits. Not so! Eighty-four percent of Americans eat a candy bar by biting into it, with only one percent using a fork and knife to eat it.
Candy Bar Madness Ice Cream Treats
This spring Baskin-Robbins invites candy bar lovers to indulge in the ultimate candy and ice cream treats. Fifty-three percent of Americans stated their favorite candy bar in ice cream is REESE'S Peanut Butter Cups followed by HEATH Toffee Bar with 29 percent, and this new menu does not disappoint those fans. Baskin-Robbins new Candy Bar Madness offerings are available at participating stores nationwide now through May 28, 2007, while supplies last.

- HEATH Bar Crunch Shake: A blend of HEATH Bar Crunch and Jamoca ice creams, chopped HEATH Bar pieces and caramel, topped with whipped cream and chopped HEATH Bar pieces.
