Bahrain To Boost Domestic Food Production

Bahrain will promote the role of small farmers and local business to boost domestic food production and build Bahrain's domestic agriculture industry.

5 Oct 2012 --- Bahrain will increase the percentage of its domestic food production from 20 to 60 percent of total annual food consumption by 2016.

Citing food security concerns, Bahrain will promote the role of small farmers and local business to boost domestic food production and build Bahrain's domestic agriculture industry.

Based on Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, a plan to foster sustainable development and market growth, private business will play a critical role in bolstering Bahrain's economy. Specifically, the Ministry of Municipalities and Urban Planning hopes to aid increased production of private fisheries, agriculture producers and poultry farms.
