Anderson Valley and Marin Brewing Collaborate on Boonville Beer Festival Brew
April 30th marks the 20th anniversary of the Legendary Boonville Beer Festival, and to celebrate that noteworthy occasion, two local legends have teamed up. Few beer festivals can boast a 20-year existence, and that’s why Anderson Valley Brewing and the Marin Brewing Company have collaborated on a new beer that will debut at the festival.
“Anderson Valley Brewing and Marin Brewing have had a long friendship and the Boonville Beer Festival committee could think of no better pair of breweries to collaborate on a 20th anniversary beer,” said Fal Allen, Brewmaster at Anderson Valley Brewing.
The partnership came about seamlessly. “I threw out a few ideas, raw materials, processes and a couple special ingredients and worked out the recipe with Arne,” said Allen.
“We also agreed to brew two slightly different versions at each brewery,” said Johnson. “I’m excited for people to taste it. It will be fun to see if people can tell what the differences are in our two versions.”
he two slightly different types of the same beer will go by the name of Hornin’ Tidrick Saison. Johnson describes the collaboration as a Champagne-inspired sparkling Saison.“It’s dry, fruity and bubbly, with bread-like grain notes, and undertones of farmhouse ale yeast as well as a touch of citrus.”
Collaboration beers provide an opportunity for brewers to work together on the creative process and craft entirely new tastes. “Ideas, styles and processes are melded together in a new way,” said Johnson. “ We are inspired by and learn from each other! And they are so much fun to do.
