ALC Sunflower-Derived Alpha GPC Delivers Benefits in Cognitive Performance and Labeling
12 May 2016 --- American Lecithin Company (ALC) has announced the availability of sunflower-derived α-glycerophosphocholine (Alpha GPC) as part of the company’s Sunflower Series of clean-label phospholipids. GMO-free and hypo-allergenic, it is a more label friendly alternative to soy.
ALC’s broad range of phospholipids helps improve the bioavailability and instantization of protein materials by making powdered protein drinks dissolve more easily. Nutritional protein products like caseinates, amino acids and whey protein can create challenges to formulators of sports nutrition powders because they can be difficult to disperse. The instantization of whey proteins and other powders can be effectively achieved by using lecithin to improve wetting, sinking and dispersability when added to a liquid such as water or milk.
ALC’s Sunflower Series is a complete line of lecithins and phospholipids including phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylcholine (PC), glycerophosphocholine (GPC) and phosphatidic acid (PA). All products in the series are hypo-allergenic and GMO-free so they provide clean label opportunities, as well as a multitude of functional benefits to formulators.
