Ajnomoto gives amino acids a boost

The company will invest a total of 15 billion yen ($137 mil) to boost production at its plants in France, Brazil Vietnam and Thailand.
Specifically, Ajinomoto will pour about 4.8 billion yen ($44 mil) into increasing the production of animal feed use tryptophan at its French subsidiary AJINOMOTO EUROLYSINE S.A.S. Meanwhile, for umami seasonings, Ajinomoto will spend 9.5 billion yen ($87 mil) to increase production of monosodium glutamate in Brazil and Vietnam as well as nucleotides in Thailand.
The company aims to achieve 410 billion yen ($3.8 bil) in sales and 63 billion yen ($578 mil) in operating profits in its amino acids business in fiscal 2010.
