Agropur Cooperative Pleased with the Agreement Reached at Ultima Foods
26 Jul 2013 --- Agropur Cooperative is pleased with the agreement reached between Ultima Foods management and its 389 Granby (Qc.) unionized plant workers.
Ultima Foods employees approved the proposed four-year agreement this morning. Agropur CEO Robert Coallier stated: "We are extremely satisfied of the outcome. Throughout the negotiating process, both parties demonstrated the sincere desire to reach an agreement and ensure production continuity, as well as secure jobs and the future of the organisation".
Since 2012, Ultima Foods, - a joint venture owned by Agropur and Agrifoods, two Canadian Co-operatives - has made significant investments to launch the new iögo brand, with hopes of securing strong market shares in the yogurt industry, ensuring efficiency at the Granby plant and maintaining or even increasing the number of jobs in the region.
"The recent financial commitments with the iögo brand go to market initiative is a testament to the trust we have in our Ultima Foods employees and, thanks to their tireless efforts, we were able to be part of one of the most successful product launches ever in the Québec - or even Canada - food industry. With this agreement in place, we can continue to work together as a team and make iögo the leading brand of yogurt in the country," Mr. Coallier added.
