ADM to Feature Ingredients for Functional Beverages at 2009 Supplyside West

10 Nov 2009 --- Sales of fortified and functional beverages in the United States topped $23.3 billion in 2008, and are expected to grow to more than $28 billion by 2012. Archer Daniels Midland Company will highlight the Company’s portfolio of ingredients that can be used in beverages during the 2009 SupplySide West International Trade Show and Conference, Nov. 11 to 13 at the Venetian & Sands Expo in Las Vegas.

In booth #24027, ADM will sample a Piña Colada Meal Replacement Beverage and a Healthy Tea Beverage. The Piña Colada Meal Replacement beverage contains ADM’s CardioAid™ plant sterols, Fibersol-2 dietary soluble fiber, Pro-Fam isolated soy protein and Novasoy soy isoflavones. It is a good source of protein and fiber and contains 25 mg of isoflavones and 650 mg of plant sterols.

In addition, ADM will sponsor a Vendorworks program on “Isoflavone Efficacy and Safety.” Dr. Mark Messina, Ph.D., M.S., will discuss soy isoflavones as a natural way to reduce menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and will explore recent clinical data on many of the potential benefits of isoflavones in relation to women’s health.
