Take and bake: World’s first USDA Certified plant-based pizza made with CBD ingredients debuts
17 Jan 2020 --- Trending CBD ingredients are making their way to the pizza space. The Pizza Plant, headquartered in California, US, has debuted its latest pizza innovation – a CBD-infused, 13-topping, plant-based Nacho Pizza, which has been hailed as a “world first”. The USDA Certified Organic Take and Bake Plant-Based Pizzas are available at Whole Foods Market in three states; California, Arizona and Nevada.
The Pizza Plant is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Plant Craft Foods. With its 100 percent USDA Certified Organic, whole-food, plant-based pizza, the company is committed to “bringing family and friends back to the table and to making the world better one pizza at a time,” the company notes.
The announcement comes as pizza innovation is in the spotlight. Earlier this week, FoodIngredientsFirst reported that Toronto-based pizza chain Pizza Pizza launched a new crust to appeal to keto dieters. The move was the latest in foodservice to provide consumers with grain-free and low-carb options, in addition to continuous NPD, which is inspired by the trending, high-fat diet.
Four USDA Certified Organic, “whole-food, nutrient-dense, made-with-love, crave-able, plant-based pizzas” inspired by The Pizza Plant's Founder's upbringing will be available fresh in the prepared foods department and pizza stations of Whole Foods Market, the company notes.
