ExxonMobil and Energy Consulting Allgäu Partner on Energy Management Certification
11 Mar 2015 --- ExxonMobil and Bavaria-based energy and business consultancy Energy Consulting Allgäu have agreed to jointly offer advice and expertise to companies throughout the food processing and production industries. They will also support firms in their efforts to achieve ISO 50001 energy management certification.
The two companies aim to jointly form strategies and advice to support food industry company energy efficiency goals. Nevertheless, they will not only focus on the food industry, but will also offer expertise for organisations in other sectors. The relationship has extended to customer workshops and the organisation of a convention for ExxonMobil distributors in the central European and Benelux region.
In 2015 the relationship has evolved to concentrate on supporting the achievement of ISO 50001 certification. The standard is the International Organization for Standardization’s framework that governs the establishment and implementation of energy management systems.
The ISO 50001 standard specifies requirements in relation to companies’ energy efficiency policies; target-setting; data use for decision-making and measurement of results. It also offers guidelines on how to review and continually improve energy management. Experts from more than 60 countries developed the standard as a way to save energy, reduce costs and meet environmental requirements.

The food sector, like many other sectors, uses significant amounts of energy and this collaboration enables us to show companies how energy-efficient lubricants coupled with efficient energy management systems can potentially help to lower overall operating costs and meet environmental requirements.”
Lange notes that ExxonMobil has longstanding expertise in the development of lubricants for the beverage and food processing industry. “Our Mobil SHC Cibus Series is specially formulated for the full range food processes and we look forward to working with companies to support their journey towards efficient, ISO 50001-certified operations.”
Mobil-branded food machinery lubricants are registered as H1 category lubricants by NSF International, the public health product testing and certification organisation. Mobil SHC Cibus Series of food machinery lubricants have the potential to significantly reduce energy consumption, exhibiting energy savings of up to 3.6 percent versus conventional oils in statistically validated field and laboratory tests.
