Tereos would like to pay tribute to Philippe Duval’s outstanding contribution towards the development of the Group which he led from 1984 through to 30 September this year.
Over the past 30 years, Tereos has achieved strong growth both in France and internationally. It has become a global player for sugar, starch and alcohol spanning three continents. Thanks to the commitment and dedication shown by its 12,000 cooperative beet growers, Tereos is now strongly positioned to add value to its agricultural production. Capitalizing on its know-how in terms of agricultural and industrial productivity, Tereos has also established strategic partnerships with major grain cooperatives in France, as well as industry-leading firms such as Petrobras in Brazil and Wilmar in China.
An HEC business school graduate, Alexis Duval (34) began his career in the US. In 2002, he moved to Brazil to join a company set up by Tereos and the Brazilian group Cosan. In 2003, he joined Guarani, the Tereos Group's Brazilian subsidiary. As CEO, he has led a major acquisition program, in addition to the company's flotation on the Sao Paulo stock exchange. In October 2007, Alexis Duval was appointed International Director and a member of Tereos’ Executive Board. In April 2009, he became the Group's Finance Director, overseeing its refinancing in Europe and internationally. In 2011, he was appointed CEO of Tereos Internacional, the subsidiary listed on the Sao Paulo stock exchange, which groups together Tereos’ sugarcane and starch assets.
Tereos is a cooperative agroindustrial group specialized in the primary processing of sugar beet, sugar cane and cereals. In 2011, Tereos recorded 4.4 billion euros in revenues, with 39 production sites and 26,500 staff.
