35 Maple Street Spirits Introduces New Expressions of Uncle Val’s Gin

05 Feb 2015 --- 35 Maple Street Spirits, a craft spirits company based in Sonoma, California, has released two new handcrafted, naturally-infused gins: Uncle Val’s Peppered Gin and Uncle Val’s Restorative Gin.

Attractive to both imaginative mixologists and intrepid spirits consumers, the new Uncle Val’s Peppered Gin and Uncle Val’s Restorative Gin join the previously-released Uncle Val’s Botanical Gin, rounding out the portfolio of the young craft spirits brand that features gins infused with all-natural, botanical ingredients after distillation, resulting in highly pure and versatile spirits.

“Demand for interesting, original and authentic spirits is on the rise and our two new Uncle Val’s Gins target that segment with distinct profiles,” said August Sebastiani, President of 35 Maple Street Spirits, “And these gins are a reflection of our unwavering commitment to tradition, craftsmanship and quality.”

According to Tara Heffernon, Bar Manager at Spoonbar in Healdsburg, California, the Peppered Gin is exciting, “There is nothing on the market like Uncle Val’s Peppered Gin. After enjoyable experimentation, I discovered many ways to spice up classic recipes, and build original drinks around the savory spice.”

The Uncle Val’s Peppered Gin, with a black peppercorn and charred red pepper nose, provides a savory flavor journey of bold pepper with a tinge of salt, before evolving into pleasing sour notes paired up with sweet juniper, as well as the red pepper and peppercorns evident in the aroma. The infused botanical ingredients include juniper, red bell pepper, black pepper and pimento.

Crisp, yet rich, with a bright taste and a dominant undernote of savory coriander, the nose of Uncle Val’s Restorative Gin is soothing and intriguing. The refreshing flavors of citrus, coriander and juniper lead to a fragrant cucumber and rose petal finish. The infused botanical ingredients include coriander, juniper, cucumber and rose petals.

Uncle Val’s gins are new world American gins, inspired by Zio Valerio, August Sebastiani’s uncle, who throughout his lifetime gardened fresh vegetables, herbs and other botanicals in Lucca, Italy. Each with its own personality and flavor profile, Uncle Val’s Gins are made in small lots and packaged by hand. The Italian-made Uncle Val’s bottles are reminiscent of the 18th and 19th century bitter bottles with labels that feature an ornate cursive font.
