Meeting new demands around sugar reduction

11 Jan 2019 --- Tate & Lyle presented various reduced sugar concepts with stevia extracts at HiE 2018. Products included a lychee red fruits juice drink with Intesse Stevia 2.0 and a thousand island dressing containing a sweetener blend including a stevia/sucralose blend with the company’s HAMULSION emulsifier. Also presented was a reduced sugar coffee latte creation. With OPTIMIZER Stevia 4.10 and INTESSE Stevia 2.0, producers have more tools to deliver cost-efficient sugar and calorie reductions across their product ranges, meeting growing consumer demand for great tasting, plant-based products that support weight management.

New Platforms in Texture

10 Jul 2017 --- Tate & Lyle is looking to explore an unexploited gap around texture in food product development. "Texture is one of the least understood attributes built into foods and because of that we have been sharing our expertise in texture in how it relates to starch, but more importantly in terms of formulating ingredients into food systems and characterizing them in terms of sensory & consumer facts is really key to getting the outcomes that people really want," says Judith Whaley of Tate & Lyle.

150 Years of Innovation at Starch Facility

20 Jun 2017 --- This year marks the 150-year anniversary of Tate & Lyle’s oldest starch production facility, known as “Koog,” located along the Dutch River Zaan. Oats as Innovative Ingredient for Heart and Cholesterol Health

27 Jan 2017 --- Oats are trending in new products. An analysis of new launches tracked by Innova Market Insights (Jan-Aug 2016) featuring oats as an ingredient, found 28% to feature a “high/source of fiber” positioning, 23% to feature a “wholegrain” claim and 18% to be positioned on a “gluten free” platform. The US (18%) was the leading market for applications, ahead of the UK (8%) and Germany (6%). Caroline Sanders, Sales Director, Oat Nutrition for Tate & Lyle says: “PromOat Beta Glucan is a source of beta glucan – the soluble dietary fiber in oat bran that provides important functional and health benefits. The use of PromOat can give access to a number of health claims, such as lowering blood cholesterol and lessening the risk of coronary heart disease. Enriching foods and beverages with this natural, heart-healthy oat fiber means we can offer new growth opportunities to our customers.”
