How to Improve Body Age With Dairy Ingredients

Products made with whey protein and minerals from milk have the power to turn back the clock on a person’s age – biologically speaking, that is – according to Arla Foods Ingredients. Launching a new concept called ‘Change Your Body Age’, Arla Foods Ingredients said that consumers aged 50+ can’t do anything about their chronological age, but they can slow down their ‘body age’ through good nutrition that looks after their muscles and bones. To highlight the possibilities for food and beverage companies to create products for consumers aged 50+, Arla Foods Ingredients has developed a new Change Your Body Age product concept – an instant coffee enriched with 100% whey protein and natural minerals from milk, including calcium, magnesium and potassium.

The Role for Dairy Proteins in Combating Sarcopenia

Arla Foods Ingredients is predicting a long-term increase in demand for whey protein ingredients suitable for use in products that address sarcopenia in seniors. Peter Schouw Andersen, Business Development Manager for Performance Health & Nutrition at Arla Foods Ingredients, said: “This year, Europe will have twice as many consumers aged 55 to 74 than young people aged 15 to 24 – a trend that is mirrored elsewhere in the world. This means that growing numbers of consumers will suffer from sarcopenia and its symptoms. In turn, this creates a significant opportunity to develop convenient, tasty and healthy food and drink products that help seniors get more high quality protein into their diet and prevent or even reverse sarcopenia.”
