13 Aug 2024 --- At a recent ADM event in Chicago, US, Micah Greenhill, the company’s senior marketing director for non-alcoholic beverages, explained how health and wellness ingredients and being used in new and unique ways to elevate, for example, carbonated drinks. He explains how non-alcoholic beverages traditionally viewed as “treats” are transitioning into the realm of functional claims, including digestive — prebiotic and postbiotic — and hydration.

He highlights the role of AI in processing data for R&D and predicting future trends. Reynolds also points to “personalized nutrition” as a big trend where AI could be deployed in the future.

19 Aug 2022 --- Finnish food industry giant Fazer began researching cell-based chocolate, which will cultivate confectionery ingredients without the need for traditional farming inputs. ADM and New Culture, an alternative dairy company, partnered to develop cow-free casein. Meanwhile, Corbion received a patent for a method for increasing the efficacy of vinegar-based preservation solutions.
11 Feb 2022 --- This week, UK industry saw trade volumes suppressed by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the pressure of Brexit and border delays. ADM released its overview highlighting the latest trends in alternative protein, while Synergy Flavours leveraged “pairing charts” to inspire a new spritzers range keeping in line with low and no alcohol trends. Meanwhile, French policymakers edged closer to reducing levels of nitrates in cured meats.
29 Nov 2021 --- In F&B developments this week, the European Flavour Association (EFFA) hosted a Virtual Flavor Day to explore how taste and c can set the tone for Europe and drive more sustainable choices. In the alt-protein arena, food-tech start-up Kingdom Supercultures made moves to scale next-gen “supercultures” for plant-based milk and cheeses. Also, North American meat and poultry producers welcomed a US$32 million investment for COVID-19 pandemic recovery.

Flavor house Givaudan launched an ashwagandha extract for mood-elevating F&B products in response to the social media buzz around the “rising star of Ayurveda.” In the UK, the British agri-food sector welcomed the nation’s newly announced trade agreement with New Zealand.
