Yakult to Construct Plant in California
Currently, Yakult U.S.A. is selling “Yakult” that is produced in Mexico. With the construction of the new plant in the U.S., Yakult U.S.A. will be prepared to handle an increase in bottle sales in the future.
25 Jun 2010 --- Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd. (Sumiya Hori, President) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Yakult U.S.A. Inc., will construct a plant in Fountain Valley, California that will produce “Yakult” with the aim of commencing production in 2012. It will be Yakult’s first plant in the U.S.
Yakult U.S.A. began full-scale sales of “Yakult” in the state of California in 2007. At present, “Yakult” is sold at supermarkets and other retail stores mainly in California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico. Sales averaged 90,000 bottles per day in 2009 (a 41% increase over the previous year) and are steadily growing with 110,000 bottles sold per day in May 2010.
