18 Feb 2015 --- Woodchuck Hard Cider opened the U.S. market to craft hard cider 24 years ago, handcrafting its cider from premium ingredients in Vermont. Woodchuck had the gumption to re-introduce a historical American beverage, and that spunk paid off. Craft cider caught on, Woodchuck continues to lead the craft cider industry, with a passionate focus on innovation, quality and its Vermont roots.
Woodchuck’s commitment to authenticity and passion for carefully handcrafting cider are stronger than ever, which is evident in the brand’s latest creation: Gumption. Legendary showman PT Barnum once noted, “everybody drank cider-spirits called ‘gumption.’” Woodchuck’s Gumption cider celebrates the Spirit of PT Barnum and those who have the gumption to follow their own paths.
“The word gumption means initiative, resourcefulness, spunk and guts, and from the very beginning in a two-car garage in a small town in Vermont, we have demonstrated those qualities,“ says President and CEO Dan Rowell. “There’s a reason we have gained such a strong following of people who love our cider, and our pioneering spirit will continue to fuel all that we do.”
Gumption is handcrafted in Vermont using a blend of fresh juice from common eating apples and dry bittersweet cider apples for a unique drinking experience. This cider has a sweet apple aroma with fresh apple upfront taste and dry finishing notes. Gumption will be available for purchase year-round beginning in March 2015, with an ABV of 5.5% and MSRP of $8.99.
“Not only is this cider delicious, the packaging is bright and bold. This is the first core package we’ve done that is style-forward, really celebrating the cider and capturing the Gumption attitude,” says Marketing Director Bridget Blacklock. “We are truly proud of Gumption and what it represents about our brand.”
