Wick Fowler Brand Introduces the Authentic Texas One-Step Chili Seasoning Mix
The only difference is that all of the secret spices and seasonings are all in one quick and easy packet.
09/11/07 The Wick Fowler tradition of Texas-style chili continued at the Original Terlingua International Frank X. Tolbert-Wick Fowler Memorial Championship Chili Cook-Off in Terlingua, Texas with the introduction of the new Texas One-Step Chili Seasoning Mix.
Wick Fowler's newest chili seasoning kit is sure to become another legend, just like Wick's Famous 2-Alarm and False-Alarm Chili Kits. With its authentic, Texas-style seasonings, it's the very same recipe that Wick Fowler used to win the first-ever Chili Cook-Off. The only difference is that all of the secret spices and seasonings are all in one quick and easy packet. All you need to add is one pound of meat, and 8 oz. of tomato sauce.
"Texas One-Step Chili Seasoning Mix is perfect for people on-the-go," said Tom Nall, the official Wick Fowler spokesperson. "The Chili Cook-Off is the ideal place to introduce this new product surrounded by chili-lovers from across the nation in remembrance of our namesake, Wick Fowler."
Wick Fowler began assembling his chili packets as gifts for friends, but local retailers began putting in orders. Wick managed a team of women who packaged the chili spices with cellophane and sealed them with clothes iron. After the popularity of Wick's chili grew, he launched Caliente Chili Co. in 1967 which continued to grow and prosper under the management of family members until it was acquired in 1991 by Reily Foods Company, the main sponsor of the Terlingua chili cook-off. The event was renamed in honor of its founders Wick Fowler and Frank X. Tolbert.
