Wendy's expands Kids' Meal Choices
Introduces two deli sandwiches and a low-fat yogurt and granola cup.
21/04/06 Wendy's is adding new meal choices that kids like and parents can feel good about. The Company has announced the expansion of its Kids' Meal Choices Menu with two deli sandwiches and a low-fat yogurt and granola cup.
New options now include a roasted turkey breast and cheese sandwich and a Black Forest ham and cheese sandwich.
Parents and children can not only choose the entree they want, they also can substitute either the low-fat, strawberry-flavored yogurt and granola or mandarin oranges for French fries. They can also substitute 2% reduced fat white milk or 1% low-fat chocolate milk for the soft drink. There is no additional charge for these substitutions.
Wendy's introduced milk in fun, grab-and-go plastic containers in 2004 as a substitute for soft drinks. Since that time, milk sales have averaged about 750,000 units per week. This compares to 54,000 weekly units before Wendy's introduced its popular Kids' Meal Choices program.
The new deli sandwiches will join traditional hamburger, cheeseburger and chicken nugget entree selections. In total, customers can now select from five kid-sized entrees, three sides and a variety of beverages to create a Kids' Meal combo.
