Vitiva Launches Potent ORAC Ingredient for Clear Hot Filled Beverages

28/05/09 Vitiva will launch AquaROX 10, a unique and natural water-soluble rosemary extract for clear, hot filled beverages at the IFT show, Anaheim, California, on June 7th. AquaROX 10 is suitable for clear, hot filled beverages, as it maintains its ORAC activity even at high processing temperatures.
Traditional rosemary extracts that are available on the market are not suitable for beverage applications due to the undesirable taste, flavor and color they add to the final product. AquaROX 10 has a bland taste and natural color, making it ideal for beverage applications.
“AquaROX 10 is by far a breakthrough antioxidant ingredient for a wide range of beverage applications including clear and hot filled beverages,” explains Ohad Cohen, CEO of Vitiva. “This high potent ORAC ingredient can help beverage manufacturers in creating a tasty and healthy drink without any technical obstacles.”
AquaROX 10 is standardized to 10% rosmarinic acid, doesn’t affect organoleptic characteristics of the beverage, is heat stable and can easily replace green tea in beverage applications. Among various plant phenolics, rosmarinic acid is an important caffeoyl ester with proven medicinal properties and well-characterized physiological functions.
Rosmarinic acid is found in substantial quantities in the Labiatae family and its medicinal uses can be found in several cultures.
The pharmacological properties of rosmarinic acid include antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory. These properties make rosmarinic acid ideal for food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications.
“Thanks to the skin and hair health benefits of rosmarinic acid, AquaROX 10 can also be added to beauty drinks,” notes Cohen.
