Vitiva Launches Highly Concentrated Water-Soluble Rosemary Extract
Water soluble rosemary extracts available on the marketplace usually contain less than 10% of rosmarinic acid and can be applied only to a few applications where the change of color and taste is not important.
09/09/08 Vitiva has developed a highly concentrated water-soluble rosemary extract, AquaROX 80 for food , dietary supplements and beverage applications. It contains a minimum of 80% rosmarinic acid, is allergen-free, and has mild neutral taste. The extract is easily soluble in water, water-based solutions and blends well with powder ingredients. It is also effective in small dosages, making it useful for dietary supplements where the size of the tablet is of great importance to the consumer.
Rosmarinic acid has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities that are stronger than other natural antioxidants. It helps to prevent cell damage caused by free radicals, thereby reducing the risk for cancer and atherosclerosis. Rosmarinic acid is also used for food preservation, for shelf life extension and maintenance of product organoleptic properties.
"We launched AquaROX three years ago, but the new AquaROX 80 represents the next generation of water soluble rosemary extracts", explains Ohad Cohen, CEO at Vitiva. "The new AquaROX 80 is more potent, it doesn't affect organoleptic characteristics such as colour and taste, it is highly soluble in water and in water in oil emulsions, and is ideal for functional beverages. I believe our R&D team has designed a powerful antioxidant that can be used in a wide range of applications."
Thanks to the high concentration of the AquaROX 80, it can be applied to tablets, soft-gel, clear liquid applications and a variety of food applications. Water soluble rosemary extracts available on the marketplace usually contain less than 10% of rosmarinic acid and can be applied only to a few applications where the change of color and taste is not important.
