6/7/2011 --- Univar USA has announced that its Food Ingredients team will introduce the 2011 edition of its interactive formulation resource, Less is More, at the IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo, June 11 – 14, to be held at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
For several years, Univar, in collaboration with many of the world’s leading ingredient suppliers, has created a comprehensive and trend-based guide to new ingredient function and formulation for its customers. The 2011 version of the Univar formulation tool, Less is More, was created with the healthy reduction trend in mind. It offers customers ingredient options and case studies to assist in creating new products that meet consumer demand for products with less sugar, salt and fat. Less is More allows easy “point and click” access to the latest ingredient application information, and an intuitive, browser-like interface that customers can use to navigate technical documents, trend guides and starting formulations.
“The best ingredients for delivering the right function in a product can be overlooked the ability to navigate consumer trends and ingredient options is difficult for most customers as the technologies change,” said Beth Warren, marketing director, Univar Food Ingredients in the US. “Because of our many relationships with the world’s leading ingredient suppliers, we are able to show customers a broad range of the latest options and technologies. Last year, as we traveled across the US to demonstrate our 2010 Delivering Discovery tool to our customers’ R&D teams; we found that our customers wanted to understand how to better select ingredients so that they can deliver healthy reduction to the marketplace in food and beverage products. Less is More was created in response to this need,” said Warren.
“Univar created this unique format with the support of our global supplier partners, providing customers with a tool that saves them time and keeps them informed about novel products and new ideas about using ingredients to deliver optimum results,” said Warren. “Our team is dedicated to our customers’ success.”
Meanwhile Univar USA has announced that it is featuring two new product concepts during the IFT exhibition this year, CRANTASTIC nutritious snack bar and REBOOT low-sugar grapefruit energy drink, formulated with the leading ingredients to support the healthy reduction trend demanded by consumers.
CRANTASTIC features Ocean Spray cranberries and natural orange juice crystals which provide a tangy fruit flavor. The bar is topped with an indulgent vanilla coating featuring Simplesse. It has less sugar, calories, and fat than typical snack bars, and is fortified with Vitamin C, potassium, calcium, and fiber.
REBOOT also supports the healthy reduction and healthy enhancement trends in a refreshing grapefruit-flavored energy drink with natural caffeine and is naturally sweetened with Enliten Stevia for a punch of energy and delightful flavor without the expected calories. It includes fiber, calcium, and Vitamins C and B.
“Consumers are looking for more options in convenient food and beverage products that offer healthy reduction lower sugar, sodium, and fat levels,” says Beth Warren, marketing director, Univar Food Ingredients in the US. “The challenge is taste.
