Two Appointments to the Board of Management of Royal Haskoning
The appointment of Frank Heemskerk means that the Board of Management is at full strength. Apart from Erik Oostwegel and Frank Heemskerk, the other member of the Board is Henry Rowe BSc CEng MICE (58).
Oct 8 2010 --- The Supervisory Board will appoint Erik Oostwegel MSc as Chairman of the Board of Management of Royal Haskoning Group with effect from 1 January 2011. On the same date, Frank Heemskerk MSc will join the Board of Management as one of its members.
Erik Oostwegel (44) will succeed Jan Bout MSc, who will be stepping down due to retirement on 1 January 2011. Erik Oostwegel is currently a member of the Board of Management. From 2005 until 2009, Erik Oostwegel held the position of Divisional Director Industrial Installations and he has been a member of the Management Council since 2003. Mr. Oostwegel, who has worked for Royal Haskoning since 1992, has extensive international experience in exporting or providing our services throughout the world. He is a member of the General Board of NLingenieurs, and devotes considerable energy to reducing the distance between universities of technology and the business world through a number of side roles.
Frank Heemskerk (41) was Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the fourth Balkenende cabinet from February 2007 up to February 2010. As Secretary of State, Mr. Heemskerk’s primary responsibilities were for promoting trade relationships with foreign countries, and he led countless economic trade missions. The postal market was also liberalised under his watch, and the ’don’t call me’ register, designed to protect consumers against unsolicited sales calls, was introduced. Prior to that, he was a member of the Lower House of the Dutch parliament for the Dutch Labour Party. Frank Heemskerk held a range of positions at ABN AMRO between 1995 and 2003. His background in economics signifies an important enhancement to the science disciplines within the Board of Management.
