Syngenta Acquire an Established Vegetable Seed Company
An established vegetable seed company from Odense, Denmark that is specialized in breeding and marketing of selected vegetable crops, is acquired by Syngenta.
05/07/06 Emergent Genetics Vegetable A/S (EGV), an established vegetable seed company from Odense, Denmark that is specialized in breeding and marketing of selected vegetable crops, has been acquired by Syngenta with an agreement to International Seed Holdings L.P.
Its products are sold internationally under three popular brands - “Daehnfeldt”, “Ohlsens Enke” and “Hurst”. The company’s primary focus is on spinach, cucumber, cabbage, and cauliflower. For the fiscal year ended in September 2005, EGV reported sales of DKK 100m ($17m).
According to André Goig, Global Head of Vegetables Seeds for Syngenta, “This acquisition further strengthens our global germ plasm pool and supports our leadership position in vegetable seeds.
“We value highly the continuity of the management team and look forward to working with them to enhance the product and service offer for the customers.”
