SVZ Etten-Leur Facility Production Ends
02 July 2013 --- On 14 June 2013, the last drums of kiwi puree left the filling station in Etten-Leur. With the last drums leaving the filling station, more than 50 years of production in Etten-Leur ended.
In preparation of the end of production in Etten-Leur, SVZ has transferred production to our facilities in Rijkevorsel (B), Tomaszów (PL), Karczmiska (PL), Almonte (ES).
Until the end of June production personnel are dismantling the site in preparation of demolition before starting at a new employer. The head office of SVZ will move in due course to a to be decided location.
According to the company, the closure of the Etten-Leur site is linked directly to changing market conditions. Consumer demands shift to more healthy, more nutritious food, which is produced in safe and sustainable circumstances. These changing expectations affect food companies as well as growers who produce fruit and vegetables. SVZ provides a vital link between the two. To help food companies meet consumer demands, SVZ wants to increase its emphasis on the relations with growers and at the same time reduce unnecessary costs in the supply chain. As a result SVZ will transfer production capacity to its production centres in Poland and Spain, and away from the Benelux. For the production remaining in the Benelux, the smaller sized Rijkevorsel plant fits better with the future capacity needs.
