Sudan 1 Scare in Canada
04 Apr 2005
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has warned that two brands of chili oil may contain the banned food colour Sudan 1 and should not be consumed.
The products -- Koon Yick Wah Kee Brand Chilli Oil and Giant Tree Brand Chilli Oil -- were distributed in Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia and perhaps Ontario from April 2004 onward by importer Le Kiu Importing Co. Ltd. of Vancouver.
The company is voluntarily withdrawing the products. The agency is monitoring the recall.
