SternEnzym and Lallemand Ethanol Technology Enter Cooperative Marketing Agreement

Sep 7 2010 --- SternEnzym GmbH & Co. KG, one of the companies of the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe, will in future offer its customers from the distilling industry in Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and the Ukraine enzyme and yeast solutions all from one source. In order to do this the enzyme specialist from Ahrensburg, near Hamburg, has entered a cooperative marketing agreement with Lallemand Ethanol Technology, a subsidiary of Lallemand Inc.
The products offered by the two companies are necessary for the manufacture of spirits. SternEnzym develops and markets a wide range of enzymes tailor-made to meet the needs of distilleries. Lallemand Ethanol Technology offers distilleries special yeasts and compounds of yeast nutrients. The combined use of enzymes and yeasts permits simultaneous saccharification and fermentation. This process strategy reduces the risk of infection with micro-organisms and increases the alcohol yield. To ensure that the products are optimally adjusted to each other and develop their full effect, the two companies have created a product range that optimally meets the requirements of distilleries in the target markets. Under the names “Quickferm”, “Quickferm Nutri” and “Quickmaxx” they supply special yeasts, vitamin and mineral mixtures as yeast nutrients and also antibiotics that ideally augment the familiar enzymes from the Spritase range.
“Because of the lean and flexible structures of two family businesses we were able to work together to develop tailor-made solutions our customers would like to order from a single source”, says Lennart Kutschinski, Managing Director of SternEnzym. In return, Lallemand Ethanol Technology will have easier access to distilleries in these regions through SternEnzym’s good network.
Since its establishment in 1988, the enzyme designer SternEnzym has specialized in the development of enzymes and enzyme compounds to meet the specific challenges its customers face in the production of baked goods, pasta, sweets and alcoholic drinks like beer and spirits. In its work the company benefits from interdisciplinary cooperation within the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe. The companies’ activities revolve around applications research at the modern Technology Centre, with an area of more than 2,000 square metres. The facility includes ten specialist applications laboratories: the trial bakery with its rheological laboratory, laboratories for dairy products, meat and deli foods, an enzyme laboratory, a lipid laboratory with a spray tower, a chocolate laboratory and a studio for developing food supplements and vitamins.
Lallemand Ethanol Technology from Milwaukee (USA) is a leading supplier of additives for the fermentation process and services in connection with the value-adding steps in the production of bioethanol, distilled drinks and industrial alcohol. The company is a unit of the Canadian enterprise Lallemand Inc., that has extensive research facilities in Montreal, Quebec.
