Southern Comfort Introduces Pre-Mix in a Can

The can, made by Crown, has been given a matt finish to create a premium feel. Southern Comfort's below-the-line design agency Iris designed the can and multipacks.

02/06/09 Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands has launched a pre-mixed Southern Comfort drink in a can. The 250ml slimline can is intended to appeal to the take-home sector.

The can, made by Crown, has been given a matt finish to create a premium feel. Southern Comfort's below-the-line design agency Iris designed the can and multipacks.

Grant Hunter, joint creative director at Iris, said: "We kept the design clean with a matt silver finish to position this as a contemporary, premium product. We opted for the quality finish to differentiate the product from its competitors."

The matt finish was achieved using a six-colour print process - a white base coat was applied followed by a layer of silver ink.

Brand manager for the UK and South Africa Lois Ireson said the new can offered convenience and portability, as well as ensuring a perfect serving strength.
