13/06/08 Skinny Dip, New Belgium Brewing's summer seasonal, has become an anticipated low-cal brew that serves as a delicious reward after outdoor activities. But due to recent and current ad campaigns for the beer, the product has come to stand for more than warm weather recreation.
Recently, activists gathered to skinny dip in the White Salmon river to hold "SAVE OUR RIVERS" signs and celebrate the impending removal of the Condit Hydroelectric Dam. Advocates of the dam removal state that the restored watershed will create fertile salmon habitat, combating the collapsing salmon populations in the western United States. New Belgium was there to shoot video and photos that serve as this season's Skinny Dip ads. The "White Salmon River Dam" video was recently posted on www.newbelgium.com and ads can be viewed in publications such as ReadyMade, Mother Jones and Utne magazines this summer.
